The Curse of Tutankhamun

The charm of the occult is a little irresistible, especially when it comes from respected professionals who can do well without the publicity. Three-thousand and five hundred years after his mysterious, untimely death, Pharaoh Tutankhamun looks across the generations and into our souls. The curse seems to be back. I am tempted to be drawn to the metaphor that the Mummy has returned, but then again, I decide against it.

 The mist fails to lift on Pharaoh Tutankhamun, the boy king who ruled Egypt for a short nine years from 1336 - 1327 BC. Tutankhamun was all of 18 years old when he died mysteriously. Pharaoh Tutankhamun succeeded his heretic father Akhenaten to the throne. Akhenaten had attempted to create a new forced religion, with the surname Aten, whereas the usual surname is 'Amun'. His son Tutankhaten promptly changed his own surname to Tutankhamun, and his child-wife's name was changed to Ankhsunamun.

 No one knows how Pharaoh Tutankhamun died. It has been speculated for long that King Tutankhamun was assassinated and records of his existence wiped out. His early death and absence of records fuelled this school of thought.

 One of the most important archeological finds of all time, King Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered in 1923 by Howard Carter, a British Egyptologist, who was convinced that King Tutankhamun's grave lay undiscovered somewhere in the Valley of Kings in Luxor, Egypt. He was financed in his expedition by Lord Carnarvon, himself and ailing gentleman keen on Egyptology. After five years of unsuccessful digging, Carnarvon almost gave up on his hopes, and returned to London. At the same time, Howard Carter's digging team stumbled on to a step cut into a rock beneath the debris of an ancient structure. On excavation, it was found that the states led down to the long-hidden tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamun. The news was immediately communicated to Carnarvon, who quickly returned to Cairo.

1929-SlideWard-Colorado Ward Sawmill, April This incident is re-told by the photographers daughter: This photo was taken by my father Edward Pline at the sawmill in Ward where we lived at the time, I think it was 1929. I was about six years old then. My father was there to photograph the sawmill for some reason or another, and as he was taking the photo, he described a "terrible thunderous bellow," and a large round thing as big as a very large boulder that moved through the air above them. You can see it in the picture. None of the sawmill workers saw the thing in the photo, but they all heard the sound and felt the ground shudder. Later in my life I tried researching the incident at the County Historical Society, but I did not find any references to it. My father passed on a few years after the incident, and I have not found any surving sawmill workers from that time. Hetty Pline

1870-Mt. Washington, New Hampshire. This photo is dubbed, "the oldest UFO photograph ever taken." This item was the subject of bidding at Ebay in 2002, when finally the photo was purchased for $385.00 by Samuel M. Sherman, who was the president of Independent-International Pictures Corp. This was originally a "stereo" photograph. Certainly it was difficult to manipulate photos at that time, and remember, there were no flying objects then; at least, not from this world.

Trindade Island Brazil "Saturen shaped UFO

The 1958 Trindade Island Brazil "saturn"-shaped UFO was photographed while being seen by more qualified observers than any other sighting.

When ufologists can't find strings, shadows or signs that a UFO photo is faked, they question the credibility of the photographer and witnesses. Trained observers -including pilots, ship captains etc- are generally considered good witnesses. It is the credibility of the tens of crew members on the deck of the Brazilian Navy ship "Almirante Saldanha" that makes the Trindade, Brazil UFO photos so interesting.

As part of its contribution to the 1957-58 International Geophysical Year, the Brazilian Navy set up a weather station on the small rocky island of Trindade, in the south Atlantic Ocean. Observers began spotting unusual aerial activity visually and on radar. At noon on 16-Jan-1958, the UFO shown here appeared for a few seconds within view of the ship's company. The incident was not isolated, but at least five other sightings had occurred in the island or near the water during the end of 1957 and in January 1958.

The crew onboard saw a bright grey object approach the island, fly behind a mountain peak and then do a acute-angle turn around and head back the way it came, disappearing at high speed over the horizon. Among those present was civilian photographer Almiro Barauna, who snapped a series of 6 photos, of which 4 showed the UFO. After the ship returned to port, the photos, which had been developed on board in a makeshift darkroom, were turned over to the Brazilian Navy Ministry. Analysts determined the photos to be authentic and concluded they showed a diskoid object moving at 900-1000Km/hr.

According to Capt. Viegas, the object was like a flattened sphere encircled at the equator by a large ring or platform. In Barauna's words, "...it made no noise, although with the shouting of the people on the deck and the noise of the sea, I cannot be certain. It had a metallic look, of an ash color, and has like a condensation of a green vapor around the perimeter, particularly in the advancing edge. Its motion was undulating, like the flight of a bat."

Alien Roswell Incident

Air Force activities which occurred over a period of many years have been consolidated and are now represented to have occurred in two or three days in July 1947.

"Aliens" observed in the New Mexico desert were actually anthropomorphic test dummies that were carried aloft by U.S. Air Force high altitude balloons for scientific research.

The "unusual" military activities in the New Mexico desert were high altitude research balloon launch and recovery operations. Reports of military units that always seemed to arrive shortly after the crash of a flying saucer to retrieve the saucer and "crew," were actually accurate descriptions of Air Force personnel engaged in anthropomorphic dummy recovery operations.

Claims of "alien bodies" at the Roswell Army Air Field hospital were most likely a combination of two separate incidents: 
a 1956 KC-97 aircraft accident in which 11 Air Force members lost their lives; and, 
a 1959 manned balloon mishap in which two Air Force pilots were injured.

UFOs on the rise again in Sri Lanka

Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), commonly called 'flying saucers', are in the news again. Several UFO sightings have been reported from various parts of Sri Lanka over the last few weeks.

"These sightings have been confirmed by a group of keen observers," said Prof. Chandana Jayaratne of the University of Colombo, who has been investigating reports of such sightings, told a press conference held in the Colombo University.

One of the observers, Sanjeeva Bandara, has even written books on UFOs.

"More than 100 villagers have seen the UFO," an observer said. "In general we cannot consider these stories as being fabricated. We camped near the Parakrama Samudra on June 15. We didn't see anything on our first day but on the second day around 11.30 pm we saw a blue-white light.

"The light beam is so unlike any of other light beam we have seen before. The light beams rotated, suddenly disappeared and reappeared a few seconds later from a place 300-400m away from the place it was initially. A few seconds later it again disappeared.

"We camped near the Parakrama Samudraya. Dense jungle stretched out to the far end and the light beam came from the jungle. Therefore, we could not go out to investigate. Out of our preliminary investigations it turned out to be an object capable of emitting 'V' shaped beam of light of intense illumination.

"The villagers including an Advanced Level student told us the flying object is capable of moving at a very high velocity and when it is travelling at a lower height it made a sound similar to a sound made by a bee. And it could change its direction to avoid colliding with trees. For three consecutive days we observed the same UFO," the observers.

But a practitioner of Naadi can also establish the same information by merely examining the thumb of the right palm of the individual.

There is a tendency for our people to accept anything that is foreign-a state of affairs which stand to the great advantage of Naadi fortune tellers.

The very term ‘fortune telling’ according to the Naadi system has now caught the market and the attention of those who make predictions by reading horoscopes. These commonly found astrologers deceive their customers by simply introducing themselves as Naadi fortune tellers.

Predict 

The ancient Rishis who made use of astrological knowledge, they had gathered over long years in order to predict a person’s fate, did not create a special system identified as a Naadi Theory of fortune telling.
Today, not only in India, but also in our own country, the Naadi Theory has become a lucrative trade.

Thamil Nadu is a land famous for Naadi fortune tellers and in the Tamil language, the word Naadi means search. (However, according to some scholars, it means ‘pulse’.)

Classification 

                    The horoscope is divided under 12 or 13 classifications as fortunes predicted in Naadi folios. As an introduction, the first volume speaks of the name and description of the parents of the subject. The second volume is concerned with the wealth, eye sight , speech, education and the family members of the subject concerned. The third governs the subject’s courage, achievements, victories and brothers. The fourth volume deals with the mother, property, vehicles and fortunes of the subject. The fifth is for lotteries, creations, and children. The sixth is about health, enemies and litigation while the 7th deals mainly with marriage. The eighth speaks of accidents, obstacles and losses. The ninth is about the father, divine mercy and spiritual life. The 10th is for occupation and social status. The 11th is about gains, a second marriage and assets, while the 12th speaks of losses, re-birth, emigration and heaven. Volume 13 speaks exclusively about planetary ill-effects and esoteric rituals.

According to the opinion of some researchers, “Naadi” folios cannot be older than 500 years. There is a belief that King Safogie who reigned in Thanjori in the 16th century took many “Naadi” folios into his custody. According to that belief, after the domination of Thanjori by the British imperialist, the British had auctioned these folios. At this auction, the folios were purchased by an Indian nobleman by the name of Sachithanandan. When Sachithanandan died, his children inherited the folios.

Inherent weakness 

The main inherent weakness in fortune telling under the Naadi system is that predictions with regard to the future are not found to be as accurate as the interpretation of events in the past of a person’s life. In this situation, there is a legendary belief that these conditions of uncertainty and credibility of readings are due to a curse made by Goddess Parvathie at a conference with the Rishis in the distant past.
